If you are thinking about using him I would NOT recommend it. We have a fully remodeled house. In his report he used incorrect information and said we had a 2 car garage, when in fact it is a 3, said we had single hung windows, but we have double hung with double pane windows, said we had spray foam only in attic, but in fact it is also in family room walls and in the ceilings of the bedrooms, he also never mentioned the fact that our house is rewired, brand new A/C, brand new roof, and custom cabinets. All of which increases price of the home. He did mention our granite counter tops and hardwoods. However, he also used old comps before the hurricane stating there were no recently sold homes in the area he could use. When we disputed this and filled out the paper work and found comps in our neighborhood and on the street that he used for his comps that all sold for approx. $122/sq ft within last 4-8 weeks, he refused to consider or change what he put ours at which was $92/sq ft. He should have at least added the value of the windows he got wrong, as well as the 3 car garage, and the spray foam in more than just the attic, but he wouldn't. He is out to make a quick buck and does not care if his reports have the correct information in it or that his appraisals hurt people who are trying to put their homes/lives back together after 2 hurricanes. If I could I would not give him 1 star. He is also not a member of the BBB as far as I can tell. However, we had to use him because that is who our mortgage company was able to get for our appraisal. The average consumer can no longer use whomever they want due to state guidelines. This is also true for the poor mortgage companies that also have to use certain appraisers.
