Kathleen was hired by Eastern Bank to do a drive-by appraisal for a home equity loan I applied. She grossly under-valued my home.
Her appraised value came in at $100k less than what I paid for a year ago (and the bank ok the value) for a new single family construction in Sharon, MA. The market in my town has skyrocketed since and even the developer is now asking at least $100k more than what I paid to build the same house. The last 2 lots have been sold. She has also neglected to include 2 similar properties that were sold within the past 3 months in her evaluation. One of them is around the corner from my house which was sold for $250k+ than what Kathleen valued my property at. It's really upsetting that some appraisers just throw random numbers around without doing thorough research and now it's costing me more money to do a full appraisal.
