Michael D. Staton of Staton & Associates is the most corrupt, incompetent, sorry excuse for an appraiser I have ever dealt with, and I have both bought and sold several homes. Much like the other 1 star review I saw on him, he missed an entire room in my house as well! He did not count one single upgrade in my home and compared it to homes that didn’t have half of what I have in mine. He honestly could have just did a virtual appraisal because all he did was calculate the square footage, and used an incorrect amount of bedrooms. He appraised my house for $40,000 less than the agreed upon price with myself and the buyer. Instead of him going through the Tidewater process and requesting information that would have clearly supported our asking price, he called the buyer ahead of the completion of the appraisal to give her the heads up that the price would be dropping. We have been trying to contact him to get this resolved, but he has been avoiding our phone calls. This is clearly not the way to do business, and I completely agree with the other one star review on him; find another profession because this is clearly not the one for you. If I could give negative stars I would, because one star is actually a bit much for this guy. He doesn’t have a single 5, 4, 3, or even 2 star review because that’s just how horrible and inexperienced he is.
