Kevin low-balled my appraisal by 25K. Even though THREE houses next to me sold a month ago for the +25K range. When I confronted him, he simply said banks frown on such big jumps in price because two years earlier I purchased my house for significantly less. For his comparison, he picked two out of four houses with 200 sq. feet less than mine, a 1400-foot place. My house has three new bathrooms and kitchen and he described them as being 10 years old! By all means, avoid Kevin Shea. Even with all this evidence, he would not change his appraisal. He works for the banks and will only spend about 10 minutes on your $400 appraisal. You will save thousands on your loan or sale price if you avoid Kevin Shea, aka Kevin “should be” aSheamed.
